"Madam, come with me to any market and ask ordinary people; believe me, you will find out the truth about popularity," challenged journalist Ahmed Waraich to PML-N leader Shamaila Rana.
LAHORE (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News): Amid ongoing debate regarding Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s performance and public appeal, young journalist Ahmed Waraich issued a challenge to PML-N lawmaker Shamaila Rana.
Shamaila Rana had stated that criticism of Maryam Nawaz over aircraft usage and other issues was proof of her activity and work, as those who work often face the most scrutiny. She argued that to truly gauge Maryam Nawaz’s popularity, one should visit fields and ask everyday citizens instead of relying on social media or drawing-room discussions.
Referencing the Chief Minister's welfare programs, Rana said Maryam Nawaz’s achievements should be evaluated by asking women benefiting from the Dhee Rani Scheme, citizens benefitting from Suthra Punjab, farmers who received Kisan Cards and interest-free loans, and poor people who received homes under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar program. She asserted that listing Maryam Nawaz’s public projects would take all day.
Journalists Ahmed Waraich responded to Rana's statement on social media platform X: "Shamaila Rana madam, come with me to any ordinary market and let us ask people as they walk by. Believe me, the truth about Maryam Nawaz’s real popularity and public opinion will become very clear, and the truth will be separated from falsehood."
