Attock Peace, Security Committee Reviews Law and Order, Orders Crackdown on Illegal Activities
Attock, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 1st Sep, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Attock Dr. Mudassir Ahmed Shah on Tuesday directed all relevant departments to strengthen coordination and take effective measures to maintain peace and security, uphold the rule of law and protect the lives and property of citizens. He called for intensified action against illegal activities and stressed that violators of the law should be dealt with without discrimination.
He was chairing a meeting of the District Peace and Security Coordination Committee at the DC Office, attended by DPO Attock Ali Bin Tariq, Additional Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners and senior officers of relevant departments.
Review of Law and Order Situation
The meeting reviewed the overall law and order situation and examined the performance of various departments in enforcing the law during August and the current month.
Statistics shared during the meeting:
- Traffic challans: 11,256 issued from August 1 to 30, with fines totalling Rs16.650 million, compared with 14,479 challans and Rs18.867 million in fines during the previous month.
- Seized illegal petrol pumps: 32 outlets sealed and Rs300,000 in fines imposed during the current month, compared with 42 sealed outlets and Rs585,000 in fines previously.
- Illegal LPG decanting violations: 78 reported during August, with 66 points sealed and Rs200,000 in fines imposed. No FIR was registered.
- Encroachments removed: 72 permanent and 315 temporary/soft encroachments removed during August, with Rs268,700 in fines imposed.
Key Actions Taken
- Electricity theft campaign: 18 illegal connections detected, 13 FIRs registered, six suspects arrested and Rs0.8535 million recovered.
- Major highways checks: 15,599 suspected vehicles checked, nine FIRs registered and nine suspects arrested.
- Anti-begging drive: Six teams deployed, resulting in 25 arrests and nine FIRs.
Overseas Pakistanis Desk Performance
Officials briefed the meeting on the performance of the Overseas Pakistanis Desk, reporting:
- 418 complaints received through the dashboard, with 347 resolved, 37 pending before civil courts, 12 referred back and 22 remaining pending.
Illegal Foreigners
Data reported on 30,537 individuals in different phases, with 20,005 having voluntarily returned and two currently present at the holding center.
Deputy Commissioner’s Directives:
- Maintain strict vigilance over law-and-order matters.
- Accelerate action against elements involved in illegal activities.
- Ensure timely resolution of public complaints.
