Australian Envoy Explores Faisalabad’s Rich Heritage at Lyallpur Museum
Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Mr. Timothy Kane, delved into the rich historical and cultural legacy of Faisalabad during a visit to Lyallpur Museum. He expressed fascination with the region’s centuries-old heritage, traditions, artifacts, and textile culture, emphasizing the role of museums as powerful connectors between nations and societies.
Maqbool Malik, Director of Lyallpur Museum, welcomed Kane with a bouquet and guided him through the museum’s 10 galleries, providing an insightful tour of Faisalabad’s history, civilization, culture, traditions, and historical heritage.
Kane showed genuine interest in the museum's displays, including historical artifacts, artworks, and cultural evidence. He was particularly captivated by the region’s unique culture, heritage of Sandal Bar, traditional ways of life, and the city's transformation from Lyallpur to Faisalabad.
In his remarks, Kane stated that museums are not just repositories of history but can serve as cultural bridges. He suggested expanding cooperation between Pakistani and Australian museums through joint exhibitions, expert exchanges, and cultural programs, fostering a deeper understanding between the peoples of both nations.
The High Commissioner commended the warm hospitality of Faisalabad’s residents, describing them as courteous and friendly. He also praised the local culture and cuisine. As a token of appreciation, Maqbool Malik presented Kane with a commemorative souvenir from Lyallpur Museum.
