Bangkok has declared a disaster-affected zone after days of almost continuous heavy rains caused widespread flooding. Some 300 millimetres (11.8 inches) of rain fell over the period, with more expected in the coming days, according to Governor Chadchart Sittipunt.
Videos from Bangkok show cars attempting to navigate roads that have been entirely submerged by floodwaters, with some vehicles appearing stranded.
