Barcelona complete signing of Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus
BBC Sport reports that Barcelona have officially signed Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus on a permanent basis. This follows from our previous report suggesting a £8.6m (€10m) deal was imminent.
Jesus, who joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022, has fallen down the pecking order at the club due to injury issues and the rise of new strikers Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres.
Although Napoli were also interested, Jesus has chosen to join last season’s Spanish league champions, completing his medical on Monday.
This signing is Barcelona’s third from a Premier League club this summer, following Anthony Gordon from Newcastle and Rodri from Manchester City.
The club has also been pursuing Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, but talks have stalled. Arsenal, too, have been linked with Alvarez, though a deal appears unlikely at this stage.
In other Arsenal news, Fabio Vieira has been sold to Hamburger SV, and Ethan Nwaneri is poised to join Borussia Dortmund on loan.
