Bribe Demand at Islamabad Checkpost Lands ICT Police Constable Behind Bars
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 10th Sep, 2026) Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have arrested one of their own constables after he allegedly demanded bribe from a citizen at a police checkpost, as the force moved against the official under its strict internal accountability policy.
An official told APP on Thursday that a case was registered against Constable Bayam at Secretariat Police Station and he was subsequently arrested. The alleged incident also surfaced through a video circulating on social media, bringing the matter into public attention.
SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza stated that the accused constable would be dealt with in accordance with the law and efforts would be made to ensure appropriate punishment through due legal process. He emphasized that any police personnel found involved in corruption would face legal action alongside departmental proceedings.
"No official is above the law, and action against personnel involved in corruption will be taken without discrimination," said Qazi. The SSP further highlighted Islamabad Police’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption, adding that misuse of the uniform for corrupt practices was unacceptable.
He noted that personnel whose actions brought disrepute to the department had no place in Islamabad Police. Qazi assured that the accountability process within the force would continue without discrimination and strict action would be taken against corrupt elements.
