The Lahore project aims to expand the road from two lanes to six across a 6.1-kilometre stretch, despite potential delays due to electricity pole shifting and pending sewerage work.
LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Nov, 2026) Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Tahir Farooq conducted a detailed visit to the under-construction Burki Road project on Wednesday to review the progress of development work.
According to a spokesperson, during the visit, officials informed DG Farooq that 45% of the overall road construction has been completed, while work on the remaining sections is ongoing. The project involves widening the thoroughfare to ease traffic congestion. Officials noted that water-bound material has been laid across 60% of the route.
The briefing revealed that 108 electricity poles along a 6.1-kilometre stretch require relocation, with 24 currently obstructing the road.
The project director informed DG Farooq about challenges posed by ongoing utility shifting and coordination issues with the Lahore Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), potentially causing further delays in segments needing sewerage line installations.
DG Farooq directed LESCO officials to expedite the relocation of remaining poles and stressed the importance of timely project delivery. He also instructed authorities to regularly use water sprinkling during construction to control dust and reduce environmental pollution.
The site visit was attended by LDA Chief Engineer Israr Saeed, the project director, a LESCO sub-divisional officer, and the Assistant Commissioner of Cantonment, who provided detailed operational updates.
