Can a Referendum Abolish the Procedure Laid Down in the Constitution? Senator Palwasha Khan

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Palwasha Khan questioned the validity of referendums in abolishing constitutional procedures during a private TV program. She stated that referendums have a poor reputation in Pakistan and asked, "When have political governments held referendums?"
Khan, along with Minister of State for Law Barrister Aqeel Malik and PTI leader Shafi Jan, discussed the upcoming Senate session scheduled for September 17. She emphasized that the PPP had advocated for people’s rights from the beginning, but criticized the lack of focus on this critical matter. Khan also noted a difference in treatment between the PPP and PTI by PML-N in Lahore.
She raised the question: "When a procedure is prescribed in the Constitution, can a referendum abolish it?"
