Michael Carrick arrived at Manchester United's training ground on Tuesday, his future as head coach uncertain amid growing speculation about a potential sacking.
The 45-year-old's position has come under intense scrutiny following United's poor start to the season, with the club reportedly exploring options to replace him.
Potential Replacements
- Eddie Howe: The former Newcastle United manager is a prominent contender, having expressed an interest in the role and with his availability after leaving the Magpies in the summer.
- Julian Nagelsmann: The recently departed Germany national team coach is also on the radar after expressing a desire to manage in the Premier League.
- Unai Emery: Aston Villa boss Emery is admired at United, but a move would be complicated by his current contract.
- Antonio Conte: The former Napoli manager is open to a return to football after taking a break following his departure from Napoli in May.
Carrick's Legacy
Carrick, who took over as interim manager last season, signed a two-year deal in the summer. If sacked, United will be looking for their eighth permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013.
