Central Jail Mirpurkhas holds emergency fire safety drill to strengthen preparedness

MIRPURKHAS, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 7th Sep, 2026) A comprehensive emergency fire safety and preparedness drill was conducted at Central Jail Mirpurkhas on Monday to assess and strengthen the institution’s ability to respond effectively to any unforeseen emergency, according to a press release issued by the jail authorities.
The exercise was held under the supervision of Central Prison Mirpurkhas Superintendent Mutuza Shaikh in accordance with the directives of the Inspector General of Prisons. During the drill, prisoners were imparted training on preventive measures, fire safety protocols, and appropriate actions to be taken in case of an accidental fire or other emergency.
Representatives from the Fire Brigade, Pakistan Rangers, Rescue 1122, Health Department, Civil Defence, the district administration, and other relevant departments participated in the exercise, performing their respective responsibilities.
Fire Brigade and Rescue 1122 teams conducted practical demonstrations for prisoners on fire prevention, firefighting techniques, and safety procedures during emergencies.
According to the jail spokesperson, the exercise aimed to ensure a timely and coordinated response to emergencies, improve coordination among relevant institutions, and enhance advance preparedness to deal with any unforeseen situation. The successful conduct of the drill also provided an opportunity to test the effectiveness of existing emergency response arrangements at the prison.
