China To Work With BRICS Members for Peace in Middle East and Gulf: Xi Jinping

Strengthening genuine multilateral cooperation in the emerging multipolar world order has become more important than ever, President Vladimir Putin said.
Chinese President Xi Jinping stated that BRICS countries should firmly stand on the right side of history. Addressing the BRICS summit, he mentioned China’s commitment to working with BRICS members for peace in the Middle East and Gulf regions.
Xi expressed concern over the severe losses caused by the war in the Middle East to people across the region, emphasizing that the conflict serves no one’s common interests. He highlighted the increasing complexity of the situation and called for a more active role from BRICS countries in establishing global peace, with an emphasis on peaceful and diplomatic conflict resolution.
The Chinese president assured that China is prepared to collaborate with other BRICS members to contribute to peace and stability in the Middle East and Gulf. Describing BRICS as a significant force in the Global South, Xi suggested enhancing its role in promoting global peace, development, and multilateral cooperation.
Xi also announced that China will assume the BRICS chairmanship in 2027 and host the organization’s 19th summit.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his address at the summit, noted that the unipolar world order, which prioritizes the interests of a limited number of countries, is gradually fading away. He highlighted fundamental shifts occurring globally across geopolitical, geoeconomic, technological, and social spheres.
Putin stated that societal structures and demographic patterns are transforming, while the unipolar international relations system is becoming obsolete. He noted the redistribution of global power in favor of the Global South and emerging new development centers in the East. According to Putin, an increasing number of countries are asserting their willingness to protect their national interests and participate in global issue-solving.
Emphasizing the need for genuine multilateral cooperation, Putin said more countries should be included in global governance mechanisms and international political and economic institutions to address significant challenges and threats.
