CM Sets Target of 3,000 E-buses Across Punjab by June 2027
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has set a vision to bring modern and environmentally friendly public transport to the grassroots level. Under this initiative, electric bus services will commence at the tehsil level from January 2027.
1,500 electric buses are scheduled to operate in 91 tehsils across Punjab, with dedicated e-bus depots for each. The first batch of buses will arrive in Lahore in January 2027.
During a meeting held on Wednesday, the CM approved the provision of additional electric buses to various districts, aiming to have 3,000 electric buses operational across Punjab by June 2027. The initial phase of this expanded service is targeted for completion by September.
Here’s the allocation plan:

Multan (9 tehsils): 169 buses

Currently, 612 electric buses are operational in various districts of Punjab, catering to millions daily. An additional 192 buses will soon join them in Multan and other regions.
Further expansion is planned for Sargodha, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Lahore, Muzaffargarh, Rawalpindi, Jhang, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Attock, Bhakkar, Hafizabad, Khanewal, Chiniot, Layyah, Okara, Sialkot, Murree, Gujrat, and Sheikhupura. Expansion is also underway in Mandi Bahauddin, Vehari, Kasur, Lodhran, Nankana Sahib, Narowal, Gujranwala, and Multan to improve public transport connectivity province-wide.
The expansion of the electric bus network aims to provide citizens with affordable, modern, safe, and environmentally friendly transportation options at the tehsil level across Punjab.
