Conservative commentator Katie Zacharia has been offered the position of White House press secretary, a White House official confirmed to the BBC.

Zacharia, currently serving as a communications adviser for Trump Media & Technology Group, would become the president's sixth chief spokesperson across his two administrations. She previously held a brief stint as a spokesperson at the Department of Homeland Security.

Former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who departed the White House in August, has reportedly secured a position with Fox News.

The BBC has reached out to Zacharia for comment.
