Commissioner Orders Fire Safety Audits Of Hospitals

SARGODHA, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – August 27, 2026) Commissioner Sargodha Division Hafiz Shaukat Ali has ordered comprehensive fire safety audits of all public and private hospitals in the division, directing authorities to ensure 100% compliance with safety protocols.

He conducted a visit to Dr Faisal Masood Teaching Hospital (DHQ) Sargodha on Thursday, inspecting wards, emergency facilities, entry and exit points, firefighting equipment, fire alarms, electrical wiring, and other safety arrangements.

Key directives include:

  • Ensuring all firefighting equipment and emergency facilities remain operational.
  • Installing fire hydrants where required immediately.
  • Not tolerating negligence in protecting patient lives and property.

Later, chairing a meeting with deputy commissioners and officials from Rescue 1122, WASA, and Municipal Services, Hafiz Shaukat Ali ordered:

  • Formation of committees to conduct detailed fire safety audits of hospitals.
  • Assessment of firefighting equipment, alarms, emergency exits, electrical wiring, central oxygen systems, and other safety installations.
  • Replacement of defective wiring and removal of exposed or hanging wires by qualified electricians.
  • Regular practical fire drills for hospital staff and strict adherence to emergency SOPs.
  • WASA to install required fire hydrants without delay.
  • Third-party technical audit of the central oxygen unit at DHQ Hospital.

Hafiz Shaukat Ali emphasized that fire safety is a continuous responsibility, directing all relevant departments to address every deficiency and ensure complete compliance with safety standards.
