Commissioner Orders Removal Of Livestock From Urban Areas By Sept 20
Divisional Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh has directed livestock owners in urban areas to voluntarily shift cattle and other animals out of city limits until September 20, 2026. Otherwise, enforcement action will be taken if the deadline is ignored.
During visits to Zubair Town, Samundri Road, and other parts of the city, he inspected the presence of cows, buffaloes, calves, and other livestock in residential areas and assessed their impact on the civic environment. He observed:
- Foul-smelling surroundings
- Blocked sewerage systems
- Disruption to traffic caused by the movement of livestock
- Accumulation of animal waste obstructing roads and drainage infrastructure
He met livestock owners and urged them to cooperate with the administration by removing their animals before the September 20 deadline. He emphasized that providing a clean, hygienic, and pleasant environment to citizens is a top priority for the administration. Keeping livestock in densely populated areas negatively affects cleanliness and creates issues related to sewerage, traffic flow, and overall civic welfare.
He directed relevant authorities to remain vigilant and monitor urban areas to ensure compliance with the decision, protecting citizens from avoidable sanitation and traffic problems. The Commissioner also appealed to livestock owners to voluntarily shift their animals within the timeframe, avoiding the need for punitive action.
