Court Awards 14 Years’ Jail Term to Drug Trafficker

SARGODHA, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 26th Aug, 2026) The Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) Sargodha Division secured a conviction in a drug-related case, with the accused sentenced to 14 years’ rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.1 million by a local court.

According to details, the challan in Case No.13/25 was submitted on January 23, 2026, while the trial commenced on February 2, 2026, before Additional Sessions Judge Amjad Ali Bajwa. During the proceedings, the prosecution produced six witnesses. After hearing their statements, cross-examination, and final arguments, the court announced its verdict, finding accused Sikandar Hayat guilty.

The court sentenced him to 14 years’ rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.1 million under Section 9(2)8 of the PCNSA-2025. Additionally, he was sentenced to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs.1,25,000 under Section 9(1)(c)6.

Various organizations and social circles praised the court’s verdict, stating that it would significantly contribute to eradicating drugs from society.

Director Punjab Counter Narcotics Force Sargodha Division, Colonel (retd) Jawad Masood and Director General Punjab Counter Narcotics Force, Brigadier Muhammad Rizwan Khan, appreciated the court’s decision in their messages. They affirmed the Punjab CNF’s commitment to eradicating drugs and taking stringent action against those involved in the illegal drug trade.
