Philippe Coutinho Joins Neymar at Santos FC for Rest of Season
BBC Sport reports that Philippe Coutinho has joined his close friend and Brazil team-mate Neymar at Santos FC until the end of the season.
The 34-year-old former Liverpool and Barcelona midfielder left Vasco da Gama in February, stating he was "tired mentally." He returned to his childhood club in 2024 but left after 81 appearances.
Neymar, who returned to Santos last year, will now have the chance to play with Coutinho for the first time at club level.
Coutinho began his career at Vasco before moving to Inter Milan and then Liverpool in 2013. He later played for Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Aston Villa, and Al-Duhail.
The club celebrated Coutinho’s arrival by sharing an old photo of the teenagers alongside a new one mimicking the pose in the gym. A video shows Coutinho entering the dressing room where Neymar greets him with a hug and exclaims "if it’s a dream, I don’t want to wake up."
