CPO Urges Students To Speak Up Against Harassment

City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar has urged students to speak up against harassment, know their legal rights, and promptly seek institutional and police support in case of any untoward incident.

Addressing an awareness seminar at College of Tourism & Hotel Management (COTHM), Northern Bypass, the CPO sensitized students about various forms of harassment, particularly sexual harassment, and highlighted practical measures to prevent such incidents and ensure personal safety.

He emphasized that students should never remain silent when confronted with harassment or inappropriate behavior, and stressed the importance of raising their voice at the right time and approaching the relevant institutions for help.

Sadiq Ali Dogar explained the legal avenues available to victims of harassment for protection of their rights and seeking justice. He also briefed the students on how they could approach police for assistance and protection whenever required.

The seminar also focused on a range of social and everyday issues and the role of police in addressing such challenges. Female students were particularly sensitized about remaining vigilant against suspicious persons and situations, reporting unpleasant incidents to the relevant authorities, and contacting police without delay when necessary.

The CPO stated that empowering the younger generation with awareness about their rights, responsibilities, and available legal protection was essential for building a safer society. He further emphasized that stronger trust and effective communication between police and students could play a vital role in preventing crime and promoting a secure environment.

The seminar aimed to empower students to:

  • Protect themselves from harassment
  • Understand their legal rights
  • Seek police assistance in social and personal issues
  • Adopt timely and effective legal channels in case of any crime or untoward situation.
