Crackdown Launched Against Overcharging, Pressure Horns, High Beams in Dera

Dera Ismail Khan (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – September 10, 2026) Traffic police conducted a crackdown against transporters charging excessive fares and vehicles using pressure horns and high beams on Bannu Road following public complaints.

Inspections and Actions:

  • Assistant Commissioner, Dr. Hamid, along with the secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) and DSP Traffic, inspected vehicles.
  • Around 25 vehicles were challaned during the operation.
  • Drivers charging passengers more than the approved fare were arrested and charged under relevant laws.
  • Several large vehicles operating on out-of-district routes were also inspected, with challans and legal action taken where needed.

Directions to Transporters:

  • Officials directed all transporters and drivers to display the official fare list inside their vehicles.
  • Relevant bus stand managers were summoned for further proceedings.

Strict Enforcement:

  • Assistant Commissioner Dr. Hamid emphasized that no bus stand manager would be allowed to dispatch a vehicle without the official fare list.
  • Vehicles violating this directive would be impounded and taken to the police station.
  • He directed authorities to show no leniency towards overcharging, use of pressure horns, high beams, or other traffic violations.
