Dacoit Injured in Exchange of Fire With New Town Police
RAWALPINDI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 8th Sep, 2026) A member of a highly wanted inter-district dacoit gang was injured when two motorcycle-borne robbers opened fire on a police party in the jurisdiction of New Town Police Station.
According to the police spokesman, the robbers opened fire on the police party during an encounter, prompting retaliatory firing. One of the gang members sustained injuries and was shifted to hospital for treatment.
Police recovered weapons and a stolen motorcycle from the injured dacoit’s possession.
Police said a search operation was underway to arrest his accomplice and added that those involved in attacks on the lives and property of citizens and police personnel would be brought to justice.
