The accused allegedly offered a former household employee Rs600,000 to carry out the murder; police arrested both suspects after the Indian businessman was found dead at home last week.
DELHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 8th Sep, 2026) The murder case of 63-year-old pharmaceutical trader Vineet Menucha in the Indian city of Kanpur has been solved, according to Indian media. His 36-year-old daughter-in-law, Shalu, allegedly promised to pay Rs600,000 to former employee Vishal to have her father-in-law killed.
Vineet Menucha was found dead in his flat last week. He had been stabbed 26 times. With the help of CCTV footage, police arrested 30-year-old Vishal and his accomplice, Raj Kishore. During questioning, contract killer Vishal allegedly confessed that he had committed the murder at Shalu’s request.
According to police, Shalu was angry with her father-in-law for monitoring the house through CCTV cameras, objecting to her attending late-night events, and asking her for money even for minor expenses. Investigators said Shalu and her father-in-law had a heated argument on July 28 after she returned home late, following which she allegedly planned his murder.
She gave Vishal an additional key to the flat and promised to pay him for the killing.
On Saturday night, Shalu went to an event with her husband and child. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Vishal and Raj Kishore entered the flat. Their initial plan was to suffocate Vineet with a pillow, but they instead stabbed him 26 times.
According to the report, Shalu and her husband returned at around 3 a.m. and found Vineet covered in blood. No valuables were stolen from the flat, leading police to believe that the murder was motivated by a personal dispute rather than robbery. Shalu has been sent to jail, while police are also examining the call records of the victim’s son.
