DC Chairs Meeting To Finalize Arrangements For Polio Booster Dose

Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Abdul Samad Nizamani chaired a meeting Friday at Darbar Hall to finalize arrangements for the Polio Booster Dose (fIPV and OPV) campaign in nine Union Councils of the riverine areas of Sakrand and Qazi Ahmed talukas.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on various arrangements for the campaign, including:

  • Availability of vaccines
  • Vaccination teams
  • Security
  • Micro-planning
  • Team support centers
  • Social mobilization and monitoring.

Dr. Javed Qureshi informed that the Polio Booster Dose Campaign would commence on August 24, targeting 67,517 children up to 10 years old with OPV and 62,090 children aged 4 months to 10 years with fIPV through a jet injector. Additionally, 13,799 schoolchildren will also be vaccinated.

He detailed the deployment of:

  • 152 polio mobile teams
  • 152 fIPV teams
  • 16 fixed teams

All necessary arrangements, including team training, vaccine and jet injector availability, had been completed to ensure a successful campaign.

Deputy Commissioner Abdul Samad Nizamani directed all relevant departments to work in close coordination for the campaign's success. He stressed that every eligible child should receive the Polio Booster Dose according to assigned targets. He also emphasized fully functional reporting systems and strengthened coordination to avoid missing any children during the campaign.

He appealed to parents, teachers, elected representatives, social leaders, and civil society to actively participate in eradicating polio and making the campaign more effective. He directed health department officials to contact the Assistant Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner's Office immediately for any issues during the campaign.
