Traffic police in Burewala have arrested a Mazda driver on Friday for allegedly possessing a fake driving licence during a checking operation at Chowngi No. 5 on Multan Road.
According to the police, the Mazda was stopped for routine checking, and the driver, identified as Muhammad Saleem, son of Abdul Sattar, a Bhatti by caste and resident of Vehari, produced a suspicious driving licence. Police said verification of the photograph and other details on the licence established that it was fake. Model Town police subsequently registered a case against the driver on charges of forgery and launched further legal proceedings.
Police asserted that action against people using fake licences and attempting to circumvent the law would continue.
