Lockdown is unacceptable under any circumstances; talks with the government are scheduled for 6 pm today, Jamaat-e-Islami chief declares at a press conference.

KARACHI (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Sep, 2026) Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has called for an Islamabad march on September 20, stating that from now on, decisions will be made on the streets.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, he expressed that the sit-in would not conclude without the abolition of the petroleum levy and criticized the placement of containers in Islamabad as ineffective to stop the march.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman revealed the party's Plan A, B, and C, suggesting it would be best for the government to avoid escalating tensions and allow peaceful daily routines in Islamabad. He further highlighted the soaring diesel prices and questioned the reduction of fares and the existence of an app for such services.

Criticizing the railway, he stated that a lockdown is unacceptable under any circumstances and that one round of talks with the government is scheduled for 6 pm today. He inquired about the source of revenue if the petroleum product levy were reduced.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman presented a comprehensive formula for lowering petroleum product prices but noted the government's response as merely presentations. He threatened to end negotiations if the matter continued to be delayed.

He also questioned the use of a government aircraft for private work in Punjab, demanding an audit to determine its acquisition and purpose.
