Defence Day Ceremony in Jhelum Valley Pays Rich Tribute to Martyrs

A dignified ceremony was held in Jhelum Valley district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Monday to commemorate Pakistan Defence Day and pay rich tribute to the sacrifices rendered by the nation’s martyrs, particularly the Armed Forces. The event was attended by a diverse gathering, including district administration representatives, civil society, educational institutions, students, teachers, traders, lawyers, political and social leaders, local government officials, religious scholars, media personnel, and people from various backgrounds.
The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem, accompanied by national songs expressing love for the homeland and highlighting national unity.
Speakers, including Deputy Commissioner Jhelum Valley Faisal Mughal and SP Atta-ur-Rehman, emphasized the significance of September 6 in Pakistan’s history, reminding the nation of the courage and sacrifices displayed during the 1965 war. They stressed that Defence Day is not just a remembrance of the past but an opportunity to renew the commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s security, sovereignty, stability, and development.
The speakers lauded the sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces martyrs, describing them as a precious national asset and a source of inspiration for future generations. Referring to the Kashmir issue, they expressed support for the Kashmiri people’s aspirations, emphasizing the need for a just and lasting resolution for sustainable regional peace.
Faisal Mughal, Atta-ur-Rehman, and other speakers encouraged the younger generation to embrace the true message of Defence Day and contribute to national development through education, discipline, hard work, unity, and a strong sense of responsibility. They reminded students that they are the builders of Pakistan’s future and should remain aware of the country’s history, national values, and the sacrifices of its heroes.
The ceremony concluded with national songs and performances by students and teachers, followed by a special prayer for Pakistan’s security, stability, progress, and prosperity, the success of the Armed Forces, and the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks.
