Defence & Martyrs Day of Pakistan Commemorated in London

The High Commission in London on Monday held a ceremony to commemorate Defence and Martyrs Day, paying tribute to the armed forces and the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives in defence of the country.
Former Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General (retd) Zubair Mahmood Hayat attended the ceremony as the guest of honour. This event was also attended by:
- British parliamentarians
- Senior UK government officials
- Ambassadors
- Defence attaches
- Media representatives
- A large number of friends of Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, High Commissioner of Pakistan to the UK Tipu Usman paid tribute to the armed forces and martyrs. He stated that the courage and determination demonstrated by Pakistan during Marka-e-Haq highlighted the capability and resolve of the country’s defence forces once again.
He further emphasized:
- The armed forces, under civilian and military leadership, had shown their commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty with unwavering support from the people.
- Operation Bunyanum Marsoos was a significant chapter in Pakistan’s military history, revitalising the nation’s spirit.
- Pakistan plays a crucial role in promoting regional peace and stability, as evidenced by its mediation efforts in the Middle East and the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.
The High Commissioner assured that Pakistan remains committed to strengthening defence and security cooperation with the United Kingdom.
The ceremony also reaffirmed Pakistan’s political, moral, and diplomatic support for the people of Kashmir facing human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Participants expressed unity with the Pakistani community and its national institutions, resolving to protect the country’s sovereignty at all costs.
