Defence Pact With Saudi Arabia, Turkiye A Great Honour For Pakistan: KP Governor
LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 27th Aug, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Wednesday stated that the defence agreement among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye was a significant honour for the country, as Pakistan had been chosen to contribute to the protection of Haramain Sharifain, setting a remarkable example of mutual fraternity and cooperation among the three Islamic nations.
During his visit to the central secretariat of Jamiat Ahle Hadith Pakistan, Quran-o-Sunnah Islamic Centre, Kundi engaged with the media, fulfilling his earlier commitment. He expressed gratitude on the occasion.
The governor highlighted Pakistan’s strong ties with Gulf countries, emphasizing the exceptional importance of defence cooperation in the current context.
Kundi addressed questions regarding Pakistan’s defence expenditure, reminding those who question the budget of the powerful response given by the Pakistan Army during the conflict in May last year. He also commended the media for their responsible and commendable role during this period.
Noting Pakistan’s status as an atomic power, Kundi assured the world of the country’s advanced defence capabilities. He also expressed appreciation for Field Marshal Asim Munir, praising his contributions and the recognition he received, even from US President.
Furthermore, Kundi acknowledged the daily sacrifices made by security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the war against terrorism and for defending the country’s borders. He stressed that the nation values the sacrifices of its security personnel.
On the occasion of Rabi-ul-Awwal, Kundi congratulated the Muslim Ummah, highlighting the significance of the blessed month for Muslims. He offered prayers for the country’s security, stability, and prosperity.
Regarding the political situation, Kundi noted that political opposition is a part of democracy but advised against any long marches or protests in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at this critical juncture. He urged the provincial government to act responsibly while prioritizing the province’s interests.
Kundi praised the responsible opposition and encouraged focusing on law and order, development, and resolving public issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He called for utilizing the province’s resources and potential for the welfare and advancement of its people.
