Illegal weapons were openly displayed at various locations during the march, armed individuals were seen, and disruptive workers damaged property and attempted to incite violence by pelting police with stones, according to an anchorperson's X post.

ISLAMABAD/LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Oct, 2026) Preparations have reportedly begun to initiate legal action over the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march and statements made by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

Anchorperson Ghareeda Farooqi stated in a post on her X account that due to alleged violations of the Constitution and law, and the presence of armed groups, the sword of disqualification is hanging over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, and stringent legal action is being initiated against him.

She further claimed that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi:

  • Blatantly used the official helicopter and other state resources during the long march despite clear court orders, which constituted contempt of court, and he could face proceedings under Article 204.
  • Made irresponsible remarks on a sensitive national security issue while addressing march participants in Lakki Marwat, allegedly insulting state institutions, the national security policy against terrorism, and the martyrs of the security forces.
  • Violated the Pakistan Arms Ordinance 1965 by displaying illegal weapons at various locations and having armed individuals seen during the PTI march. Legal proceedings could be initiated against the PTI leadership, particularly Sohail Afridi, under Sections 8, 9, 11-B and 13 of the Arms Ordinance.
  • Could face cases registered under Sections 147, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code, in accordance with instructions from Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, over damage to public property and stone-pelting on police by participants in the long march.

The statement concluded by warning the public, particularly young people, that the provincial chief minister had forgotten his constitutional responsibilities and adopted lawless conduct. Young people were urged to avoid risking their future by becoming part of any such group.
