DPM Calls For Palestine-led Governance, Accountability For Int'l Law Violations
UrduPoint (September 22, 2026) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar expressed grave concern over the situation in Gaza and the West Bank during a meeting of the OIC Committee of Six on Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly. He called for Palestine-led reconstruction and governance arrangements, emphasizing the central role of the Palestinian Authority.
Dar condemned Israel's ongoing violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, illegal settlement activity, settler violence, and annexationist measures in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. He urged renewed diplomatic action by the OIC to address these issues.
The deputy prime minister reiterated Pakistan's support for:
- An independent, sovereign, and contiguous State of Palestine on pre-1967 borders.
- Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
- Palestine's full membership in the United Nations.
He appreciated the mediation efforts of the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey towards implementing the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict ( endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803). Dar also stressed the need for the full and faithful implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan and Security Council Resolution 2803.
