DPM/FM Dar Lauds British Parliamentarians For Strengthening Pak-UK Ties
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 26th Aug, 2026) Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar appreciated the significant role of British parliamentarians in fostering stronger Pakistan-UK ties and their consistent advocacy for a just resolution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
He met a group of cross-party Pakistan-origin British parliamentarians at Pakistan House, London, as reported by the Foreign Office Spokesperson. The group included Lord Zameer Choudrey, Lord Qurban Hussain, Baroness Shaista Sheehan, Lord Shaffaq Mohammed, and Members of Parliament Mohammad Yasin, Yasmin Qureshi, Afzal Khan, Zubir Ahmed, and Adnan Hussain.
The British lawmakers praised Pakistan’s leadership and mediation efforts in the Middle East, stating that Pakistan’s historical role had gained international recognition, filling all overseas Pakistanis with pride.
The DPM/FM shared Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives for de-escalation and peace in the Middle East. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding by all parties for achieving durable peace and stability in the region.
He also highlighted the significance of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement in strengthening regional peace and stability, clarifying that it was purely defensive in nature.
Discussing recent developments in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the British parliamentarians congratulated DPM/FM on the PML-N’s victory in the recent legislative assembly elections.
The DPM/FM stated that the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir had shown their confidence in the PML-N due to its past record of delivering economic growth and development. He promised that the new government would prioritize infrastructure investment and job creation for the youth of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He added that the Federal Government and the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir would work with other political parties and stakeholders to build consensus on crucial governance and constitutional issues.
The parliamentarians shared their perspectives on other mutually beneficial topics and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening ties between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
