Drug-Free Balochistan Initiative Gains Momentum In Hub

The comprehensive program “Drug-Free Balochistan”, particularly under the Drug-Free Initiative, is being implemented with accelerated efforts to eradicate narcotics from the province.
Meeting Reviews Progress
A meeting chaired by Commissioner Lasbela Division, Saira Atta, was held at LDA Conference Hall to review progress. The session discussed:
- Adopting a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking.
- Establishing rehabilitation centers for free treatment of addicts, with a separate facility for women.
- Intensifying crackdowns and arrests against drug suppliers, focusing on ice (crystal meth) and cannabis distribution.
Construction and Facilities
The Social Welfare Department briefed the Commissioner that the rehabilitation center in Uthal is in its final construction phase, while another center will be established in Hub.
District-Level Efforts
Deputy Commissioner Hub, Jumadad Mandokhail, and SP Hub, Mirza Bilal Hasan, briefed the Commissioner on district-level anti-narcotics measures. It was agreed that:
- Law enforcement agencies, including police, excise, and ANF, will collaborate in launching awareness campaigns in educational institutions and neighborhoods.
- Seminars and walks will be organized to educate youth about the dangers of drugs and encourage them towards education and sports.
Directives from Commissioner Saira Atta
Commissioner Saira Atta directed SP Hub to ensure daily operations against drug suppliers and keep administrative authorities informed. The meeting also resolved:
- Addicts will be registered under the supervision of the Social Welfare Department.
- Welfare and verification of disabled persons under the CM Support Program will be coordinated with district administration.
