Dubai Municipality Strengthens Construction Capabilities Through Singapore Cooperation

Dubai Municipality has taken a significant step towards enhancing its construction capabilities by forging a cooperative partnership with Singapore. A delegation from Dubai Municipality, led by Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director-General, recently concluded a productive official visit to Singapore.

During their stay, the delegation delved into Singapore’s expertise in construction and urban development through interactions with government entities and international companies specializing in the sector. The visit focused on several key areas:

  • Modern and modular construction methods
  • Artificial intelligence (AI) and automation
  • Digital twins
  • Sustainable infrastructure
  • Smart city technologies

Bin Ghalita emphasized the importance of international cooperation and knowledge exchange in Dubai’s construction sector’s continuous development, stating:

"International cooperation and knowledge exchange play an important role in ensuring that Dubai’s construction sector continues to evolve alongside advances in technology, engineering, and urban development."

The visit aimed to explore practical applications in these areas, including modern construction techniques, sustainable infrastructure, digital twins, and AI, which could shape Dubai Municipality’s regulatory and operational strategies.

  • International Built Environment Week 2026: The delegation participated in this prestigious event, which showcased industry trends and developments, including workforce capabilities, digital intelligence, and sustainability.
  • BEX Asia: They also visited BEX Asia to explore cutting-edge technologies and solutions for the construction sector.
  • Cooperation with Building and Construction Authority (BCA) International: Dubai Municipality representatives met with BCA International officials to exchange insights on Singapore’s construction sector development approach. Discussions covered various topics, including productivity, advanced building technologies, regulatory frameworks, cost management, sustainability, and digital transformation.
  • Cooperation Agreement: A significant outcome was the signing of a cooperation agreement between Dubai Municipality and BCA International. This agreement paves the way for joint training programs, specialized site visits, and the exchange of construction policies, fostering knowledge sharing in green buildings and modern construction methods.
