Ed Sheeran: Why is his tour in 'damage control mode'?
BBC News - Culture
Robert Kraft, the US stadium owner who had pro-Palestinian rapper Macklemore removed as Ed Sheeran's opening act, claims Sheeran asked him to match his $2 million (£1.5 million) donation for "aid in the region." This came after Macklemore promised to donate $1 million (£750,000) to Palestinian organizations, challenging Kraft to do the same.
Kraft wrote on Wednesday:
"Earlier today, before Macklemore challenged me to match his donation, Ed called me and asked me to commit $2 million to match his donation to aid in the region to fight this humanitarian crisis. Ed now plans to reach out to other venue owners and our goal is to continue to work together to build bridges."
The BBC's Mark Savage explores the controversy surrounding Sheeran's US tour, which has placed him in a position of "damage control mode."
