Effective Utilization of Transport Department Land in Peshawar Reviewed
PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – September 01, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has initiated a review of possibilities for the effective utilization of valuable government land owned by the Transport Department at Peshawar Bus Terminal and Lahore Adda. This move aims to serve public interest and improve provincial resources.
On Tuesday, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Transport & Mass Transit Samiullah Khan and Advisor Finance Muzzammil Aslam visited the site. Accompanied by relevant officials, they inspected the terminal, vacant land surrounding the facility, and sites of under-construction buildings.
Secretary Transport & Mass Transit Development Muhammad Zubair, Secretary Planning & Development Department Adil Shah, Director Transport Hassan Abid, Administrator Peshawar Bus Terminal, and other officials were present.
During the visit, officials briefed Samiullah Khan and Muzzammil Aslam on the current status of Peshawar Bus Terminal, available facilities, and details regarding the land owned by the Transport Department. It was noted that the department owns approximately 55 kanals of land within the premises, including both existing terminal areas and additional plots.
The officials emphasized the need for comprehensive planning to ensure optimal and efficient use of this valuable asset while benefiting the public and enhancing provincial resources.
Samiullah Khan stressed the provincial government’s commitment to ensuring productive use of government land in the larger public interest. He added that, given its strategic location, the Peshawar Bus Terminal requires careful planning to provide improved services while contributing to provincial development.
Muzzammil Aslam, Advisor Finance, acknowledged the importance of effective utilization of government assets for sound financial management. He suggested exploring projects aimed at strengthening provincial resources and generating new revenue streams by leveraging this prime location.
Directions were issued to prepare a comprehensive proposal outlining plans for utilizing the land effectively. A meeting of the Road Transport board will be convened to discuss the proposal, reviewing technical, financial, and administrative aspects before making future determinations.
