Swiss Alps coach crash kills five and injures dozens, police say

Police reveal that the Dutch tour bus hit a safety barrier, veered off the road, and overturned. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in the Graubünden region, near Susch and Zernez.
Swiss authorities have not yet identified the deceased, and 40 other passengers were injured, ranging from serious to minor. Rescue helicopters and ambulance crews were deployed to transport the injured to hospitals.
The coach had left the Netherlands on Monday and was on a day trip to Switzerland from Austria at the time of the crash. Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten, King Willem-Alexander, and Queen Máxima expressed their condolences and sympathy to all affected by this "great tragedy."
Swiss President Guy Parmelin shared his "deep shock" on X and offered his condolences to the families of the victims.
Graubünden cantonal police confirmed three serious injuries and deployed seven helicopters from Switzerland and Austria, along with fire departments and road rescue services, for the rescue operation.
Zernez serves as the gateway to the Swiss National Park, a vast Alpine reserve spanning over 100 square kilometers.
