Five Restaurants Fined For Food Safety Violations In Multan
Punjab Food Authority (PFA) continued its inspection drive against restaurants in the city, imposing a total fine of Rs182,000 on five well-known establishments for violating food safety regulations and disposing of over 10 kilograms of substandard food ingredients.
The inspections were carried out in Gulgasht, Abdali road, Gulshan market, and Bahawalpur road on the directions of PFA Director General, Raja Mansoor Ahmed.
During the operation:
- A prominent restaurant at Khursheed Morh, Gulgasht, was fined Rs 50,000 for poor kitchen hygiene and inadequate arrangements to control insects and pests.
- Another restaurant on Abdali road was penalised Rs40,000 after expired food items were found on the premises and food was improperly stored in freezers.
- A well-known restaurant near the High Court was fined Rs35,000 for a foul-smelling washing area and failure to mention expiry dates on meat.
- A restaurant at Noon Chowk, Gulshan Market, was fined Rs20,000 for using expired shawarma bread.
PFA DG emphasised that inspections of food businesses would continue without any discrimination to ensure the quality and safety of food served to citizens, adding that no leniency would be shown to those compromising public health.
