Five Workers' Children To Pursue Higher Education at Top Global Universities
UrduPoint (7th September, 2026) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has taken a significant step towards expanding educational opportunities for children of workers by deciding to send five talented students to leading international universities for higher education on September 23.
This initiative was announced by Provincial Labour Minister Faisal Khan Tarkai during a meeting reviewing the academic performance, facilities, and overall educational standards of Workers Welfare board schools across the province.
The move reflects the government’s broader effort to ensure that children from working-class families have access to quality education and opportunities to pursue higher studies at prestigious institutions abroad. The minister stated that workers' children should be equipped with academic qualifications, scientific knowledge, practical skills, and the confidence to compete on an international level.
During the meeting:
- Tarkai directed authorities to conduct a comprehensive assessment of Workers Welfare Board schools’ needs and prepare a priority-based plan for upgrading their facilities.
- He emphasized improving the learning environment with modern educational infrastructure.
- Phase solarization, replacement of outdated furniture, and establishment of modern science laboratories were planned to provide better opportunities for practical learning and scientific exploration.
- Measures to encourage academic excellence and recognize high-performing students and schools were approved.
The minister stressed the need for regular monitoring and timely implementation of development initiatives to ensure improvements translate into better educational outcomes. He emphasized that investing in the education of workers' children is an investment in the future of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan as a whole.
