Flying Doctor Service Helicopter Crashes in Malaysia
A Flying Doctor Service helicopter has crashed in Malaysia, with five people, including medical staff, on board. The incident occurred near an airport in Sarawak, a state located near the island of Borneo, according to a British broadcaster.
Authorities have not confirmed any deaths, and Malaysia’s Health Minister Zulkefli Ahmad said preliminary information indicated that a pilot and Ministry of Health employees were on board, including a medical officer, an assistant medical officer, and nurses.
The condition of the crew and passengers, as well as the cause of the crash, remain unknown. Firefighters and medical agencies are continuing search and rescue operations.
The Flying Doctor Service provides medical facilities, emergency medical assistance, and other healthcare services to rural and remote areas.
