Four-day Fire Safety Workshop Concludes at Mirpur DHQ Teaching Hospital
MIRPUR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 9th Sep, 2026) A four-day practical training workshop on fire safety and effective emergency response concluded at the Divisional Headquarters and Teaching Hospital Mirpur on Wednesday, with hospital staff demonstrating practical skills in firefighting, safe evacuation of patients and staff, and immediate response to emergency situations.
Commissioner Mirpur Division, Raja Tahir Mumtaz, who attended the concluding ceremony as the chief guest, stated that the initial minutes of an emergency are crucial, and a swift, suitable response by hospital staff could prevent significant losses. He emphasized the need for robust fire safety measures, preventive planning, and regular staff training, noting that safety protocols should be integrated into the hospital’s permanent safety system.
Medical Superintendent, Professor Dr. Ejaz Ahmed, mentioned that the workshop aimed to heighten staff consciousness and practical abilities in fire safety, emergency response, and timely protective measures. He added that the administration would continue efforts to bolster safety arrangements for patients, attendants, and staff.
District Health Officer, Dr. Fida Hussain, called for the continuation of fire safety training in public and private hospitals. Deputy Director Civil Defence, Raja Ishtiaq Hussain, expressed his department’s commitment to organizing further training programs on fire safety and emergency response.
Vice Principal Medical College, Professor Dr. Tariq Masood, and Director Administration MBBS Medical College, Dr. Ejaz Mahmood, both underscored the significance of regular practical training and effective emergency response systems for safeguarding patients and healthcare workers.
At the conclusion, certificates were presented to hospital employees who successfully completed the training, including:
