Free Movement in Strait of Hormuz Can Resume Under International Law If US Stops Attacks: Iranian President

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian revealed in an interview with Indian television that Arab countries will be briefed on a proposed framework for navigation in the Strait of Hormuz at a foreign ministers’ meeting in Oman.
He emphasized that Iran and Oman have already agreed on a specific framework concerning the strait. Pezeshkian stated that the meeting, scheduled for Monday, will involve foreign ministers from Arab nations. Following this, the International Maritime Organization will also be informed.
The Iranian president clarified that free movement through the waterway can resume under international law if the United States halts its attacks.
Regional Situation
Pezeshkian expressed Iran’s amicable relations with neighboring countries, including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Russia, and China. He criticized the presence of US military bases in the region, alleging their use for attacks on Iran.
He called for regional cooperation to foster peace and security, instead of allowing foreign powers to create divisions.
Global Economy
Regarding global economics, Pezeshkian highlighted the potential of BRICS and the New Development Bank to challenge US dominance and sanctions by promoting free trade and investment. This, he suggested, would help member states reduce their reliance on the US economy and the dollar, paving the way for an independent multipolar system.
Nuclear Program
Addressing allegations about Iran’s nuclear program, Pezeshkian denied Tehran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons. He affirmed Iran’s adherence to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and its willingness to engage in negotiations within the framework of international law.
The Iranian president strongly condemned attacks targeting Iran’s leadership, scientists, and civilian infrastructure, criticizing sanctions on food, medicines, and trade. He asserted that Iran seeks peace but will not surrender to sanctions or military pressure.
