The former federal minister alleged that the government spent billions on vehicles, foreign trips, and other luxuries while the country struggled with record inflation.
Inflation and Fuel Prices
With a sharp increase in oil prices, inflation continues to surge, placing a heavy burden on the poor. Despite the challenges, the government’s priorities seem to be elsewhere.
Expensive Vehicles and Foreign Trips
According to Fawad Chaudhry, the government recently purchased vehicles worth approximately Rs40 billion. He also highlighted expenses on:
- Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s foreign trip
- Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s 45 foreign visits
- President Asif Zardari’s trips
- Mohsin Naqvi’s engagements
Bureaucratic Benefits and Luxury Vehicles
Chaudhry further pointed out that federal board of revenue (FBR) officers received additional payments amounting to Rs200 billion, while 200 new luxury vehicles were being bought for their protocol.
Social Media Post
He shared these observations in a social media post on X, criticizing the government’s contrasting priorities while the public struggles with inflation.
