ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Sep, 2026)
Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Ahad Khan Cheema, stated that the fuel relief scheme is progressing smoothly nationwide. This was expressed during a meeting he chaired to review the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme, as per a press release from the Economic Affairs Ministry.
Attending the meeting were:
- Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar
- Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik
- Federal Minister for IT, Shaza Fatima Khawaja
- The Minister of State for Finance
- Representatives from relevant institutions and provincial governments
The Ministry of IT and the Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA) informed the meeting that over five million people have registered under the scheme, with fuel tokens successfully generated. Registration and other issues at most petrol pumps have also been resolved.
The meeting discussed challenges faced by rickshaw and loader owners, particularly those not registered with provincial Excise Departments. Provincial representatives reported that registration for rickshaws has begun, and eligible owners will benefit from the scheme upon registration. It was also noted that registered motorcycle owners are receiving relief.
Cheema urged prompt resolution of registration-related issues faced by rickshaws and loaders, ensuring eligible owners don't miss out. He asked the PDA to incorporate vehicle-registration and token-payment complaints into a dedicated complaint portal, to be launched soon.
The PDA assured the meeting they would launch the portal promptly, enabling users to register complaints and seek resolutions.
Cheema appreciated visits by Members of Parliament to petrol pumps in their constituencies, aligning with the Prime Minister’s directives. These visits provide real-time updates and feedback, improving the system.
The meeting was informed that most payments to petrol pumps have been made. State Bank representatives predicted pending payment issues would be resolved within a day or two.
Emphasizing timely payments, Cheema expressed satisfaction with provincial governments and district administrations' performance in implementing the scheme.
Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, stated that public awareness campaigns through media and on-ground outreach are ongoing, with all efforts focused on informing citizens about the scheme.
