Funeral for PC Tom Clough: Killed in Middlesbrough A66 Crash
BBC News reports on the funeral of PC Tom Clough, who was killed in a crash on the A66 near Middlesbrough along with his colleague PC Matthew Blades.
The Incident
On 22 August, a Volkswagen Passat collided with their marked police car while officers were pursuing it. The five young men in the Passat also lost their lives.
Memorial and Support
PC Blades’ funeral took place in Hartlepool earlier, with hundreds of police officers and community members paying their respects. PC Clough’s partner expressed gratitude for the public’s support, describing Tom as a devoted partner, brother, son, and father to his sausage dog, Frank.
A fundraiser organized by the Cleveland Police Federation raised over £1.2 million to support the families of both officers.
Tribute
"Tom used to say that he didn’t think anybody would come to his funeral," said Lauren Somerville, Cleveland Police Federation chair. "He was wrong. He was described as giving his everything to everybody."
