Gilani Expresses Deep Grief Over Fire Incident at PIMS Hospital
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – August 26, 2026) Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Wednesday expressed profound grief and sorrow over the tragic fire incident at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad, which resulted in the loss of 14 newborn babies.
He offered his heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the parents and bereaved families of the deceased newborns. Describing the incident as heartbreaking, he noted that the loss of innocent lives has deeply saddened everyone. Gilani prayed for strength and patience for the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss.
Emphasizing the need for effective safety measures, comprehensive fire-safety systems, and robust emergency response arrangements in hospitals, Gilani stressed that any negligence or lapse in safety protocols, especially where lives are at stake, is unacceptable. He urged relevant authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident and take practical measures to prevent future tragedies.
