Gilani Pays Tribute to Pakistan Navy Officers, Personnel on Pakistan Navy Day

ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 7th Sep, 2026) Acting President, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, has paid tribute to the officers and personnel of the Pakistan Navy on the occasion of Pakistan Navy Day, acknowledging their role in safeguarding Pakistan’s maritime frontiers, coastal security, and national interests.

Gilani stated that this day is an opportunity to remember the courage, sacrifices, and professionalism of the Pakistan Navy. He highlighted the navy’s remarkable bravery and strategic capability during the 1965 war, as evidenced by Operation Somnath, which dealt a significant blow to the enemy’s defenses.

He expressed pride in the Pakistan Navy’s growth into a modern and versatile force capable of meeting new defense and regional challenges. Beyond its primary role in defending maritime boundaries, it contributes to maritime security, protects sea trade routes, engages in international peacekeeping, and provides humanitarian assistance during natural disasters.

During Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, the Pakistan Navy maintained vigilance and readiness in safeguarding coastal and maritime frontiers. Gilani paid tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the country, emphasizing that their sacrifice will never be forgotten. He also commended the ghazis, describing their service as a source of national pride.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional stability and cooperation, he stressed that there can be no compromise on the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Gilani expressed confidence in the Pakistan Navy’s ability to uphold its professional standards and defend Pakistan’s maritime frontiers.

He extended his warmest wishes to the officers and personnel of the Pakistan Navy, emphasizing that the nation stands with them and values their service.
