Gomal University Holds Defence Day Rally to Honour Martyrs

Gomal University organized a rally on Sunday to pay tribute to the martyrs and veterans who rendered sacrifices for the defence of the country on the occasion of Defence Day. The event was led by Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Nematullah Babar, and attended by Registrar Imranullah Marwat, deans, provost, Director Finance, administrative officers, faculty members, and other University employees.

Speaking at the occasion, Prof. Dr. Babar emphasized the significance of September 6, 1965, as a day in Pakistan’s history when the nation and armed forces displayed unity, courage, and patriotism. He acknowledged the bravery of the soldiers of the Pakistan Army and the nation’s collective effort, highlighting that the martyrs’ sacrifices continue to inspire Pakistanis.

The Acting Vice Chancellor reminded the audience that Defence Day serves as a reminder of the responsibility to honor the martyrs’ sacrifices, promote national unity, and contribute to the country’s development and prosperity. He suggested that strengthening Pakistan’s defence lies not only in security preparedness but also through education, research, character-building, and national cohesion.

Registrar Imranullah Marwat echoed this sentiment, underscoring the importance of acquainting the younger generation with the nation’s history and the sacrifices made for freedom, sovereignty, and security.

The rally concluded with a prayer for Pakistan’s security, stability, progress, and prosperity, as well as for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks.
