Government of Uzbekistan Awards Dr. Tarifa Alzaabi Badge of Honour

The Award

The Government of Uzbekistan has conferred the "35th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan" Badge of Honour upon Dr. Tarifa Ajeif Alzaabi, the Director General of the International Centre for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA). This honour was presented during an official ceremony on August 28, 2026, in Uzbekistan.

Acknowledging Excellence

Dr. Alzaabi’s contributions to international cooperation, environmental protection, sustainable natural resource management, and climate action have been recognised. The award was given by Aziz Abdukhakimov, Advisor to the President of Uzbekistan on Environmental Issues and Chairman of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change.

A Notable Occasion

The event included a visit to the Eco Police exhibition and the graduation ceremony for its members, highlighting Dr. Alzaabi’s commitment to environmental stewardship. This recognition is a follow-up to an earlier honour in June 2025, where she received the "Tabiat Himoyachisi" ("Nature Protector") Badge for her work in arid and saline environments.

International Recognition

Presented on Emirati Women’s Day, this latest distinction showcases the growing global impact of Emirati women in science, innovation, sustainability, and international cooperation. Dr. Alzaabi expressed her gratitude:

Dr. Alzaabi thanked both the Government of Uzbekistan and ICBA’s partners for their trust and collaboration, highlighting what long-term partnerships can achieve in addressing global environmental and climate challenges.
