Governor KPK Stresses Character-building Alongside Modern Education
LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 27th Aug, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday emphasized the importance of establishing educational institutions that offer modern education while also focusing on character development.
Addressing the Minhaj-ul-Quran University’s Convocation 2026 at Expo Centre Lahore, the governor stated that education is a cornerstone of national development, and Pakistan should promote both modern sciences and Islamic studies.
He praised the educational services of Sheikh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, highlighting Minhaj-ul-Quran University’s role in providing modern education alongside religious studies. He noted many graduates from the university are actively serving various national institutions.
Faisal Kundi mentioned that the College of Shariah and Islamic Sciences at the university was established in 1984, now offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in both modern disciplines and advanced Islamic studies.
He urged educational institutions to promote science, technology, and research alongside religious education. He highlighted the Pakistan Peoples Party’s commitment to education as a foundation for national progress, citing its strong relationship with Minhaj-ul-Quran based on intellectual harmony and equality.
Recalling Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s appreciation for Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri’s scholarly services, he noted she was also a life member of Tehreek Minhaj-ul-Quran.
Facing Pakistan’s current challenges, the governor encouraged citizens to stand united against false propaganda and contribute to strengthening national unity and harmony. He emphasized the need to combat ignorance, extremism, hatred, and intolerance with knowledge, awareness, and reason.
Noting Islam as a religion of peace and love, he urged promoting its message of peace and harmony to address challenges like terrorism.
Addressing the graduating students, Kundi encouraged them not to limit their education to personal gain but to use it for nation-building, serving humanity, and fostering positive action. He congratulated the graduates, especially the gold medalists, and their parents. Earlier, he presented prizes and certificates to the gold medalists and received a commemorative shield from the university.
