EPA Seizes 27,900 Substandard Plastic Bags
EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has seized more than 27,900 plastic shopping bags weighing less than 75 microns in a significant crackdown on illegal polythene bags in Faisalabad.
An EPA spokesman stated that the action was taken following information about the transportation of plastic shopping bags not meeting prescribed thickness requirements. The operation was supervised by Deputy Director Environment, Dr Muhammad Tahir Abbas. Inspectors Amjad Ali, Lareeb Maryam, and field assistants Shah Zaman, Aun Raza, Maryam Ghaffar, and Farah Mushtaq participated in the enforcement action.
The EPA team intercepted three trucks carrying over 27,900 substandard plastic shopping bags and took the entire consignment into custody. The agency plans to continue actions against those involved in the manufacture, supply, transportation, or use of plastic bags violating environmental regulations.
