Governor, PFF Chief Discuss Promotion of Football and Youth Talent in KP

ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 29th Aug, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday underscored the need to provide modern facilities, quality training, and adequate opportunities for young footballers, stating that the province possesses immense talent capable of representing Pakistan at national and international levels.

He expressed these views during a meeting with Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) President Syed Mohsen Gilani here. The discussion focused on promoting sports, particularly football, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, encouraging talented players, highlighting the province’s football potential at the national level, and exploring ways to ensure a brighter future for the sport in Pakistan.

Governor Kundi noted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has abundant talent not only in football but also in other sports, and young athletes should be provided with modern facilities, professional coaching, and appropriate platforms to showcase their abilities. He also mentioned that talented footballers from Dera Ismail Khan and other remote areas could excel internationally if given proper opportunities.

Emphasizing the importance of collaboration, Governor Kundi stressed the need for effective cooperation between the PFF and relevant institutions to promote football across the country. During the meeting, both parties agreed on the significance of grassroots talent hunt programs, coaching initiatives, regular competitions, and improved sports infrastructure for developing football talent in Pakistan.

PFF President Syed Mohsen Gilani appreciated Governor Kundi’s efforts for promoting football and supporting young players in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, assuring him of the federation’s full cooperation in advancing the game.
